2009: There's still time left

Tuesday, November 10, 2009 / Posted by London / comments (0)

So at the start of this year I had a post called This is for you 2009 which was all about encouraging not only myself but y'all about what this year holds. However recently I've been a lil' disturbed by some of the comments I've been hearing from some people "2010! It's all about 2010! Next year is going to be a big year for me". So what happened to the rest of the year? 2009 is not over! I repeat 2009 IS NOT OVER!

Now I'm not saying you shouldn't be happy or even excited about the new year is going to bring. Even I'm excited about what next year is going to bring. However, I'm still excited about what can happen with what's left of the year.

So at this time of the year it would only seem fitting that we "Say Goodbye". The reason is because entering a new year can be exciting as well as daunting. Especially if this year wasn't that great for you. The thing is you can't change the past. You can't change yesterday so why not look forward and concerntrate on what's left of the year and the year ahead.

C'mon people let's Stay focused, Get down to business & Enjoy today!!!

So it's not the start of a new millennium but let's be grateful about today and party anyway lol.

Taking it back with: She-Ra

Monday, November 09, 2009 / Posted by London / comments (1)

Yesterday I was feeling a little nostalgic and was watching all of my favourite cartoons from when I was younger. Then, I came across this video for She-Ra, which brought the biggest smile to my face you wouldn't believe! Not many people (i.e my friends) really know how much of an avid fan I was of this cartoon. To the point where I had the pyjamas and video (because you know there was no dvd player back then lol). Which, I might add I knew all the words to. Not many people know about She-Ra as she was the twin sister of He-man but I'm sure you know of him.

It's crazy because as I was watching it I saw certain themes run throughout the episodes. There are definitely elements of misogyny and women are the frailer species. Obiviously, there were things that went against that but nonetheless it was still there.  What cartoon was your fav' when you were younger?

Beyonce performs at the EMAs

Saturday, November 07, 2009 / Posted by London / comments (0)

This performance from Beyonce is nothing but H.O.T.T hot! Even with a wardrobe malfunction (her mask not coming off properly at the start of the performance) she made it work and that is why no one can or is able to say that she isn't on top of her game right now. However, I couldn't help but feel like there should of been more to this performance. In the sense that I would of expected the performance to last a lil' longer. Anyway, I think and I'm pretty sure there are thousands that agree with me when I say that this was a great performance!

Vibe Magazine is back

Tuesday, November 03, 2009 / Posted by London / comments (0)

Back in June of this year Vibe Magazine closed it's doors and shut up shop. Do you remember the post where I was practically hysterical because of it? lol Well I've known for a while that they were coming back and it seems a lot quicker than I thought it was going to.

The first edition of this revamp will be hitting the stores this fall (lol I just had to I'm an American girl stuck on British soil) aka December. Been trying to get in contact with them to find out if it will be reaching the UK. But I haven't heard anything YET. As soon as I do I'll let you know.

So guess who's on the cover? YES you guessed it or maybe because it's below lol. Chris Breezy is on the cover. This is going to make a very interesting interview. C.Breezy and Riri have been trying to focus on their music and put that event behind them and move on. Either way, I'm excited about the new issue and I hope it's here to stay!

Beverly Knight's is 'In Your Shoes'

Tuesday, November 03, 2009 / Posted by London / comments (0)

The above video is from  UK artist Beverly Knight and features man of the moment Chipmunk. The track 'In Your Shoes' is a good track. I'm not saying that the track isn't great however I would expect just a lil' more from her as an aritst and not jump  on this whole autotune hype that everyone now has in their tracks. The fact that she's got Chipmunk in the vid shows she's very current and wants to appeal to not only the older market (my generation who knew her from before) but also the younger generation. Altogether, I think it's a decent video but I'm waiting to see what else is going to come from her.  Check out the video below just a lil' flashback for y'all.

The launch of Talenthouse

Sunday, November 01, 2009 / Posted by London / comments (0)

Talenthouse new interactive collaborative website (which in my opinion is great!) It's got the backing of some heavy weights within in the industry for example Dr. Dre, Naiomi Campbell and Nokia. The site aims to allow young talent to be able to connect and share ideas as well as platform for creative collaboration, providing artists opportunities for recognition and compensation. Talenthouse currently focuses on film, fashion, music, art and photography. Many global brands and acclaimed industry icons are involved with Talenthouse by hosting Creative Invites.

Personally, I'm very excited about this site and I hope that many creative talents will utilise this tool.

This is a JOKE!

Sunday, November 01, 2009 / Posted by London / comments (1)

Even though I'm not the biggest fan of JLS I think this track is taking the mick! How are you going to do a remake of a crap song? The era of making replies to song is DEAD & GONE! Can anyone remember Pigeon's in reply to TLC's No Scrubs? So I don't know why this lady thought, I know what I'll do to start off my career as a singer I'll do a reply to JLS's new track 'Beat again'.

In times past those who've done these types of songs haven't gone very far within their music career. In the 90s it seemed like this was the way forward with many people taking it upon themselves to do replies to songs that we HUGE hits. Anyway, check out this video and let me know what you think.

The Collection

Sunday, November 01, 2009 / Posted by London / comments (0)

main image - Black

Peter O'Brien

This collection from Peter O'Brien is very nice. The above dress is just an example of the style of clothing available from his new collection online. As I get older I realise that there needs to be a Black Dress in your wardrobe that can suite every occasion. This is where this collection comes in.
